Good Neighbor Month was amazing!
WOW! Columbia City stepped into neighboring in September. We had cider pressings (2!), free community yoga, a repair cafe, playground meetups, a community potluck, a clothing swap, block meetups and cleanups, book club, and more.
Thank you! This special month (that we made up) was a great excuse to neighbor together, and the neighboring microgrant was a big success. We can’t wait to share pictures and hear what else you’re inspired to do!

We’ll admit it: we made up Good Neighbor Month. Other communities have good neighbor day or week, but Columbia City has too many cool things to squeeze into a few days!

Big news: We are offering microgrants to new hosts! Microgrants can be used for snacks, supplies, or whatever else makes hosting possible.

Neighborhood Read: Seedfolks
Join your neighbors to discuss Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman. The book follows a diverse community coming together to transform a vacant lot into a thriving community garden. This book is appropriate for middle-school level readers on up!
Book completion is never required to join the conversation!
Kid and Family meetup
This recurring playdate event is for families who want to connect with other families that live within Columbia City.
This group is for families with kids aged six and under. Our goal is to offer mutual support for parents and regular play dates for children where they can form friendships.
Cider Pressing
Do you have apples to press? Just want to hang with your neighbors? This is a community-hosted event; bring your apples or just help out!
Clothing Swap
Free neighborhood clothing swap!
Bring one bag of clean, good condition adult sizes: fall and winter clothes, shoes, and accessories! Remaining items will be donated. Volunteers requested!
Repair Cafe
At the Repair Cafe, bring your items to be repaired! We’re going to start small with sewing/mending, basic electrical, and other quick fixes. We’ll help where we can or just come by to work on your own projects.
We will also be making Name Buttons; no more disposable name tags! We welcome volunteer repair support!
Neighborhood Read: The Art of Gathering
Join your neighbors to discuss The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker. The book shares core principles on how to make meaningful and purposeful gatherings, and why!
Book completion is never required to join the conversation!

April Interdependence Potluck At our April potluck, we didn’t just share a meal – we reflected on our interdependence and hosted the kickoff for a national relay on the theme! We were honored to be written up by the South Seattle Emerald – check out the article here: A Columbia City Club Helps Kick Off National Effort to Forge Local Connections – South Seattle Emerald At the potluck we asked neighbors to complete this sentence: “One year from now, I hope I know a neighbor well enough to…” Here’s a few things that your neighbors said: Be of service – Help on anything – Talk about disability – Bump into a friend on the sidewalk – Know the door code – Share garbage collection costs – Drop in with 5 minutes notice – Always have someone to have coffee with – Babysit – Ask them to babysit – Get help building a house – Batch cook together – Borrow baking soda – Trade dog care – Ask for a ride home from the airport Mend, Craft, and Repair Day Mending at the library was a big success! We are looking for more champions for mend, craft, and repair events.   Clothing Swap We were too busy swapping clothes to catch a picture! Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who made this a great event. Tasveer and Marination Thank you to newly opened movie theater (and non-profit) Tasveer for hosting us for a tour; afterwards we shared snacks at local favorite Marination. At our March potluck, we made plans for street cleanups, bike rodeos, meshcore networks, reading a play together, ham radio, tour and table, emergency prep, and watching movies together.

Bike Works and Billiard Hoang!
Bike Works is more than just a bike shop – find out how much more! Let’s meet outside of the bike shop (the yellow house!) at 4:30pm on Wednesday, February 25th, 2026. We will go for a little tour of the shop and then move to the Hudson Building to tour the office and warehouse space to learn about our neighborhood bike shop and how its ecosystem works through donations, youth and adult programs, and social and environmental justice.

| Jan 2026 Hi Neighbors! A busy start to 2026! There are quite a few events coming up. Thanks for neighboring together! Upcoming Neighbors Club Events Neighbors Potluck: January 21st, 5:30 – 7:30PM, New Freeway Hall. We’ll have time to talk about where Neighbors Club is and how it could evolve, so bring your curiosity and any ideas you’ve been percolating! Seward Park Sunset Saunter: January 23rd, 4PM, Audubon Center, Seward Park. Come join your neighbors for a Friday sunset walk at Seward park. We’ll meet at the Audubon Center then do an averagely paced loop around the park. Maybe the mountain will even be out. Rain or shine! 206 Day! February 6th, 6PM, Ferdinand Festival Street.
